Tat

I've just found out a friend of mine has Chinese symbols tattooed on her lower back - I tried to guess what they might mean and came up with:

- "No entry"

- "Gullible tourist"

- "Sweet & Sour Pork"

- "If found, please return to..."

- "How's my walking? Call 0800 000 000"

- "If you can read this, one of us is upside down"

- "I went to Beijing & all I got was this lousy tattoo"

There are lots of awesome (geeky) tattoos on this site.

I don't think I've ever seen a brown person with a proper tattoo... maybe I should get one?

I think they're excellent for telling how old people are. I mean, you can put people into rough age groups. MUM, DAD, LOVE, HATE on knuckles - 38+. A jaunty scroll with a name like Ethel - 80+. Then we come to the barbed wire on the arm look, let's say 30+. Tat on the back? 30+. Paint by numbers up the arm? 20+.

I've put too much thought into this.

What would you have done and where would you put it?

your friend is a big math fan :)

Don't do it!! i don't know anyone who got one who now doesn't regret it! The acid test has to be though, have the tattoo done in henna first - if you're not bored or sick of being teased (or perhaps loving the 'wanna see my new tattoo parade) you'll know if it's the right thing for you...

hmmm, i've just realised this post is far too sensible for a blog comment, ah well.

If you're going to have Love and Hate, you need a matching Elizabeth Duke "son" ring.

Try white ink. You'd look like a tattoo negative

Why oh why get the Mobius loop tattood on yourself?
Lol getting a tattoo is a great idea, just not any of nerdy ones you linked to. design a pattern or something yourself! My friend is a tattoo artist and he designed my tat for me and I certainly don't regret it!
I say go for it

Hi Suman,

Long time stalk..err...reader but first time commenter.

I am guessing from the tat link you read b3ta.com? I have fretted over a tat for ages and have just about decided what I want. Make sure it's personal to you and get it done in henna first!

Any news on the new album?

Elizabeth Duke. Oh my, the memories are flooding back........

I agree with the henna idea.

I wouldn't get one. I don't like the idea of anyone repeating jabbing me with a needle. It brings back the trauma of school experiences with a compass. Did anyone out there actually use their compass for anything other than torture?

Combined with your last blog -why not choose a mysterious sign, tattoo it and introduce yourself by waving at that portion of your anatomy?Should go down a treat with the fellowship examiners and how good would your diploma look?

make sure you'll never need a MRI done if you have any of the following:

- shrapnel or other steel parts in your body

- unremoveable piercings

- tatoo

second/third degree burns hurt!

PS: I know that's a picture of a Mobius Strip

(funnily enough, when I asked my friend if I could take a picture of her naked back to put on the internet, she said no...)

YOU are thinking of getting a tattoo? After THIS posting: http://amateurtransplants.blogspot.com/2006/11/needless.html ????

"It is so bad. It's a hollow metal spike going through the skin.

And in this case, through my skin. And it hurts. Ow. More Ow. Still Ow. Comeoncomeoncomeoncomeon...."

:-D
Well, have fun then. Beauty must suffer, as they say in German.
